5 Tips on Fall Protection

In this blog post I’d like to share five important tips if you’re going to be working at height. Anyone working at height must be properly trained and must use proper personal protective equipment. When planning safe work at height it’s important to consider:
Work Restraint:
Using PPE to prevent movement into areas with a higher risk of falls.
Work Positioning:
The use of PPE to position the worker in a safe location to carry out their tasks.
Fall Arrest:
The risk of fall should be mitigated through use fall arrest equipment, taking fall factor into account at all times.
1.) Work at height safety training is required. Before you begin check your training certificate expiry date.
2.) Before using any safety equipment you must carry out a pre-use inspection. Check the expiry date on your equipment inspection certificate. The expiry date is normally six months from the last inspection.
3.) Only use EN standard CE marked safety harness kit.
4.) Always ensure sufficient ground clearance. Restraint kits prevent falls while fall arrest kits only work after you fall
5.) Ensure your anchorage meets the requirements of EN795.
